Alison Nicole Reflects on her health, life, & the power of music!

Well, it’s been quite some time since I’ve written, so I thought I’d sit down and tell you all what’s been going on in my world.

Few of you know that my kidney’s failed this year and it’s caused a world of trouble for me from one end of my body to the other….  I’m a strong woman and I’ve been through a lot of hell in my life, some self-inflicted and some just part of God’s odd plan for me.  Either way, I’ve grown and learned a lot about Ali and what I’m all about.

Going through all this and waiting for a kidney transplant has taught me patience and caused me to turn to music even more so than before.  I believe music ha a place in medicine and in healing the soul.  If it weren’t for music when my emotions are angry, happy, or hungry, I don’t know where I”d be. There’s a lot to be said about different genres, I respect it all!!!!!!  I feel blessed to have the ears to hear it and the mind to digest it.  Not everyone can sing, but the beauty of music is that you don’t have to be able to sing like a rockstar, you just have to have the soul to feel it.  I thank God for putting music on our earth, if for nothing else to heal the sick soul and bring peace to the weary, and happiness to the sad.

I’ve found the strength to attend a few concerts here and there, whether I felt good or not, I went, and I’m so glad I did.  I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Van Halen for the first time in my short 46 years of life, and what a show, other then David Lee Roth talking a little too much, Eddie’s guitar solo was worth the ticket price alone.  I believe he’s only gotten better over time.

I also had the opportunity to see KISS, Motley Crue, The Beach Boys, Chicago, Jason Mraz, Cool and The Gang, Lita Ford, Def Leppard and Poison, and let me tell you I wasn’t disappointed by anyone.

Though the Beach Boys and Chicago guys are in their 70′s they sure know how to put on a show and their voices are still just as pristine as they ever were.  Motley Crue may have put on the best show however, with Tommy’s Roller Coaster drumming.  He sure is something else, gotta love him.

Jason Mraz has a voice that’s as smooth as silk.  He’s like WOW in every song.  I was impressed with his entire show and every person who participated in it.  I think he’s highly underrated as a vocalist.

Lita, ohhhhh Lita, what a fireball.  She can sing, she can play and she put on a most memorable show with her perfectly toned voice and her sexy ways.

I was surprised to see the Kool and The Gang opened for Van Halen, but I’ll tell you, they got the entire arena on their feet with their memorable music, we were all dancing and singing, it was a blast and thy were actually the perfect opener for Eddie and the band.  I must mention Alex the drummer, he also performed a drum solo that could have rivaled with the best of the best of today.

Music has a way of getting and staying in your blood, especially if you’re born with it, which I believe musicians are.

Last but not least, Def Leppard and Poison….  How is it these guys don’t age?  EXCEPTIONAL SHOW!!  Rockin out to these guys got me out of my head, my illness and allowed me to feel 18 again, it was great.

You see the power of music?  It’s not just something you see when you go to a concert, it’s something you feel with every fiber of your being and heals you on the spot.  Music was born with me and will live on with me as long as God allows me to stay.  I feel very positive about my future as I await a kidney transplant.

I want to thank you for standing by me, especially YOU Tim Lester, you RAWK!!  I will try to write more often, as my health allows.  I appreciate your prayers, your well wishes, your messages of hope and love, it all means the world to me.

Now, you carry on and Rock ON until next time.

All my love to you,

Alison Nicole
