Nashville’s Grace Adele Launches The Grand Sessions by Janet Hansen (Scout 66.com)

Amazing Grace Adele brings style and sensibility to Americana with the launch of  The Grand Sessions.

In Nashville, where Americana, the wildly popular stepchild to country music flourishes, Grace Adele and The Grand Band are slated to launch The Grand Sessions. The 10-track original collection explores a tightly-knit group of musical styles rooted in old country, bluegrass, western swing, folk, and a dab of indie rock for color.

What’s most striking about this collection is the authentic depth of  sensibilities and tasteful approach Grace Adele and The Grand Band bring to studio sessions outside their touring schedule of more than 100 dates each year.  Though this four-piece stands shoulder-to-shoulder with now-famous contemporaries in the genre, Grace Adele and The Grand Band don’t  attempt to emulate those on the front lines of the Americana movement. Moreover, Grammy-winning producer, Phil Harris  gave rein to Grace Adele’s confident vocal range alongside the band’s ability to complement her. The CD  features guest appearances by Chris Scruggs, Buddy Spicher, David Mayfield, and Ketch Secor.

The Grace Adele brand stands for an elegant feminine vintage style hailing back to old country music.  Eschewing the ubiquitous whisper-thin songbird approach to her vocals, she sets the tone for The Grand Band intersecting the crossroads where country’s female pioneers blazed a path more than half a century ago. She reaches in to the dark corners of life’s losses as easily as sailing full tilt on uptempo melodies meant for drives along sunny country roads with the radio turned all the way up and the windows rolled all the way down.

Sweet and Lonesome,” “Brown Eyes,” “Something to Say,” “All My Dreams” and especially  ”Over You” capture the spirit of Grace Adele and The Grand Band while “Never Lose,” “Movin’ On,”  and “Where Will I Go” favor more indie rock and folk-tinged flavors in the full palette of colors on “The Grand Sessions.” Grace Adele’s songwriting captures traditional themes delivered with an authentic feminine patina. No artifice is needed when classic values are the  foundation of intent. There is no question about why the music is important. Long-established storytelling traditions combined with time-honored music styles hold a very special place within the hearts of people around the world.

The Grand Sessions is moderately priced at $10. The full-length CD is available on iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon.com.  For more information about Grace Adele and The Grand Band, please visit http://graceadelemusic.com.  Follow her on https://Twitter.com/graceadelemusic  and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Grace-Adele-The-Grand-Band/142275909174633.

UPDATE:

While everyone in Americana is all down with country vintage, Grace Adele and The Grand Band enlisted award-winning animator Ian Timothy of Louisville to create a claymation video in support of her new release, “The Grand Sessions.

Claymation isn’t new, but it is to Americana. And it may well be one of the first, if not the first claymation video created to promote a single from Nashville. What’s more, Ian Timothy is only 17 years old. He built all the sets and human clay figures to create the visual complementing “All My Dreams.”
