Okay Metal fans… get your fucking horns up for some face melting metal from Canada! Calgary’s metal scene just got hotter with Throne of Vengeance and their 2011 release Flesh Engine. This hard rocking, fast paced album has fans, including myself, headbanging with a vengeance!
What I especially love about this album is the mixture of hard rock with metal. As in all metal music the drums are very prominent and the Animal himself, Trevor Cobb, does not disappoint. Changing rhythms definitely keeps us on our toes throughout each song and on to the next. Hard rock comes through with killer guitar riffs from Brad Weidlich. Fuck I love killer guitar riffs – since the release of Flesh Engine, Brad has left the band and has been replaced with Brady Side. “Red” otherwise known as Riley Cobb, keeps everyone in line on bass and Tommy “Shakes” Holt completes the package with outstanding vocals and rhythm guitar.
Undertow starts the CD and does just what the titles promises… pulls you under and fucking drowns you in sound. The Perfect Plan carries you upward and dominates the senses just before Flesh Engine cuts right into your skin, pumping Throne of Vengeance directly into your bloodstream…..and that’s where they stay as you listen through the album.
World evils are brought to light through the lyrics of Dollar Insight (The Big D), World War Everything and The Devils Captain. Frontlines fools us into submission with an introduction of clean guitar and soothing lyrics only to blow you away with an explosion of sound. The intro to Utter Chaos shows us under no uncertain terms Red’s skill on bass and Toxic Black Cloud pounds down, wrapping up the album and leaving you breathless and beaten, a slave forever to the Throne of Vengeance reign!
Buy this CD! The cover art alone is worth the money…. take the fact that the music is fucking awesome and will without a doubt blow you the fuck away as a bonus!
